4th of July was fun. We went down south to my parents property and celebrated it in a small town. It was fun watching the small town parade and the kids enjoyed the candy as usual.
With the many pictures, can't help it, it's so gorgeous there, we made it to Lake Powell. With it's many challenges as usual we still enjoy going there. This year we got to experience fixing two tires on the trailer (tires had the metal sticking out of it when we got there, so we were glad we made it there) and then with one of the new ones blowing up on our way home, then having to drop the boat on the side of the road on sunday and find a place that was open to get yet another tire for the trailer so we could make it home. We also had fun with a few afternoon thunder showers, which involved taking down tents and having the neighbor campers help hold the boat down from it crashing into the rocks. Oh, and the first night we got there Madi triped on a rock and almost needed stitches, and Braxton burnt the top of three of his fingers from the lantern that kept him up all night long. I guess those were the signs of a challenging week, but we made it through.
We found a wonderful sandy hill that we had so much fun sliding, or surfing, or running down into the water. We stayed there for hours. The fishing story is my favorite. One morning Braxton wanted to go fishing...so Mike and I said, sure...go over there and yell if you need help. Well, i don't think it was more then 5 minutes and he comes over yelling, "I caught one!" Mike and I were so surprised..we didn't think they would catch a thing. So, then Wesley wanted to fish too...once again, a few minutes later, "I caught one!" Then we were addicted. Mike was out there and Madi saying she wanted to fish. They weren't very big, but the excitment of catching one was so much fun.
The kids had so much fun where we camped. Our favorite spot that Mike and I used to camp at when dating was closed last year. I thought maybe cause we didn't get there till after Labor day. This year it was closed again. I was so bummed. I asked the gal and she said it was closed cause the water is so low. I didn't think it was that low. So, we ended up camping around where we did last year, the water was even lower. So sad. The kids loved playing in the sand with their trucks and trailers and boats. Braxton and Wesley would take the blow up tube and swim to the other island, one day they even took their lunch over there.
So, even with all the hardships, we still have a blast down there.
The end of July Mike went to Yellowstone with his brother and scout group. He had such a fun time hiking everyday and playing games, and seeing the wildlife. While he took a week to do that he dropped me and the kids off at Bear Lake where we stayed at my sis-in-laws house and camped in the backyard. It was such a fun week, full of riding bikes, playing at the beach, at the KOA, swimming, and spending time with cousins, and especially enjoying my favorite snow cones! (pic)
We also made it to the gateway, outside mall where they have this neat water fountain thing...i don't know what to call it. The kids had a absolute blast and we met up with some of our friends from college. We were there for hours. The kids wouldn't leave. Every half hour they add music and lights for a few minutes. They kept asking when that would start again. So, we kept staying till 9 and then insisted we had to leave!
